Measure the route, not just the gap

These are typically 90cm or wider, so as well as the space in the kitchen check the front door, hallway width, and any turn at the top of the stairs. Tell us the measurements and we will confirm it will go in — far better than finding out on delivery day.

Plumbed or non-plumbed water?

Plumbed models give you chilled water and ice on tap but need a mains water connection within reach. Non-plumbed models use a refillable tank instead — no plumbing work, and you top it up yourself. If there is no convenient supply, the tank version saves a lot of hassle.

Ventilation

Big appliances shift a lot of heat. Leave the manufacturer's stated gap at the back and above, and keep the model out of an enclosed alcove or right beside the oven — it will run harder, cost more and fail sooner.
